This article explores how motivational interviewing (MI) can be a powerful tool in supporting patients who use cannabis. The ethos of MI and its core skills (reflective listening, affirmation, asking open-ended questions, summaries, and identifying change talk) promote an awareness of personal motivations and strengthen commitment to reducing or quitting consumption. The article gives examples of dialogue to concretely illustrate these mechanisms and their impact on the care process.
