Addiction: taking the deaf minority into account

By Groupe Addiction Sourds , Anne-Lise Granier, Hélène Donadieu, Jean Dagron

Addiction care is intended to be inclusive, unconditional, and non-judgmental. However, deaf and hard-of-hearing people often have problems accessing care. This article, coordinated by the Groupe Addiction Sourds (Deaf Addiction Group), brings together four papers: the testimony of a patient from the innovative treatment program at the University Hospital of Montpellier, an exploratory socio-anthropological survey, and contributions from a signing addictologist and the head of the department hosting the first French sign language (LSF) drug withdrawal treatment programs in Montpellier.
