Complex psychotrauma and addictive behaviors

The links between addictive behaviors and a history of psychotrauma are part of the clinical evidence for practitioners working with people suffering from addictive behaviors. The frequency and prevalence of emotional disorders linked to psychological trauma is a trend regularly reported among the factors that promote or even determine drug abuse and addictions (Fidelle, 2009, Aderhold, 2013). Although this correlation has now been corroborated by numerous epidemiological and clinical studies, it is still insufficiently taken into account on the therapeutic level and constitutes a major issue in supporting people who seek our services (CSAPA, CAARUD, etc.).
