In Luxembourg, a large proportion of residential treatments for addictive disorders are conducted abroad. This study reports on an assessment of the impact of residential addiction treatments among Luxemburgish treatment-seeking adults. Aimed at the therapeutic orientation of patients with substance-related disorders, this study revealed several changes between before and after residential treatment. The symptomatology, quality of life, severity of addiction, and motivation for change variables showed significant improvement following completion of the assessed therapeutic projects. These results thus give credence to the residential treatments’ efficiency in terms of addiction, although the sustainability of the observed changes needs to be confirmed.
