Substance use among French Medical Students

Substance use is a suicidal and burn out risk factor, experienced by 49% of French physicians (Kansoun et al., 2019). To date, no French study has been carried out on this topic. That is why I chose to work on it for my general practitioner doctoral thesis, Prevalence of Substance Use among French Medical Students 2016-2017. Next, a database was used to compare several populations, regarding their work time, their psychosocial risk factors, and their substance use during their medical studies: men / women, interns in psychiatry / interns in other specialities, smokers / non-smokers, students followed-up by psychiatrist and/or a psychologist / students without any follow-up. Here is a part of the results.

  • medical students
  • substance use
  • psychoactive drugs
  • addictive behavior
