The paradigm shift in DSM-5 leads us to envisage the compulsive/impulsive disorders through the prism of addiction. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the clinical value of the use of the object-lie, which is similar in numerous aspects to that of the object-drug. It is a question of highlighting the functions of the lie, at the same time poison and remedy, according to the level of intensity of the consumption. As does the drug addict, the mythomaniac builds another reality for themselves. In the mythomaniac, the lie is a substitute pharmakon for a primary identity failing.
