Addictologic paradigm appropriation at the SNCF: between negotiated receptions and misuse
By Félix Lemaître
English
The purpose of this working paper is to describe professional and individual dynamics of the addictologic paradigm appropriation (preventive speech, action methodology, and explanatory theories). It appears that addictologic speech individualizes issues and vulnerability is becoming a new stigma. The links between substance use and work are concealed. Prevention is interpreted as recalling the moral order through scientific tools. Addictology has to deal with professional identity and strategies of face conservation. Its concepts are integrated into an indigenous science of selection, which evaluates bodies and categorizes minds. Addictology can alert and mobilize occupational health actors to withstand disciplinary logics.
